How I Read

Woot another book tag for the fun of it. I took this tag off of Dreamer of Improbable Dreams.  This book tag kinda reminds me of the Reading Habits book tag I did a while back on my old blog. I called it differently because I pulled it off from somewhere else, but they’re all the same questions. Anyways, let’s get on to the tag, shall we?

Hope you guys enjoy reading it. And if you’re interested in doing it, feel free to link your response down below. Or if you just wanna talk about the questions and answers, you can just leave a comment below and we can get the discussion going.

How do you find new books to read?

Either friends or goodreads. I actually have a large list of to be read novels, so I won’t be finding myself stuck at finding a new book for a while. I think the TBR list grows and grows as time goes on.

Has your taste in books changed over the years?

Yes it has changed. I used to be a huge fan of paranormal novels 9-10 years ago. Books with witches, werewolves, vampires, etc. I had the occasional fantasy novels, but they were too in depth for me at the time. Now I’m definitely more interested in fantasy novels than anything else. I love rich world fantasy novels have to offer, as well as beautiful storytelling.

How often do you buy books?

If I have a job, I’ll buy books every few months. If I don’t have a job, maybe once a year. And it’s usually a novel. I tend to borrow books from the library, more than anything. I’ll only buy novels if I deemed them shelf-worthy.

How did you get into book reviewing?

Not really sure. I basically fell into book reviewing. I used to review beauty products, but I realized that wasn’t my passion, nor did I have a clue what I was talking about. At least with novels, I know the basis of it. The difference between static and dynamic characters. How a plot line goes and etc. I did take a course about Hero’s Journey as well, which helps me not be surprised when watching movies. (A lot of them follow the hero’s journey formula.) Don’t get me wrong, I’m not an expert about analyzing novels, I’m someone who enjoys reading and likes to share my thoughts and opinions on the book I read.

How do you react when you don’t like the ending of a book?

Depends on the type of ending. Most often I’ll be angry/annoyed and start ranting to my friends about the ending. If the ending is just bad, I’ll shrug it off and move on.

How often do you sneak peak at the ending to see if there is a happy ending?

Not often. Only if I’m really curious on the ending and the middle is really slow or boring.
